What is Pre-Hab?

Pre-hab, or pre-rehabilitation, is a program that helps patients prepare you for an upcoming surgery or reduce the risk of injury in your time of post-op.

With the guidance of a therapist here at Spirit Winds, you can make important plans for the following areas:

  • Exercise therapy: A series of exercises that can help improve strength, flexibility, and balance

  • Physical therapy: Learn targeted exercises and stretches to help prevent injuries or speed up recovery

  • Lifestyle changes: Can include diet, physical activity, and mental health

  • Mental preparation: Can help patients prepare mentally for surgery and recovery

  • Daily Life and Habits: Consider all the movements and potentially strenuous tasks that consume your day. After a procedure, you will want to certainly modify if not eliminate risky movements that include simple bending, lifting, and other mobility-related chores.

Consider being proactive about the upcoming surgery / procedure. Being mentally aware of the fact that your body will need different care and support can speed up recovery once your are through to the other side. When you do into a procedure with a strong body and mind, recovery will be quicker and easier for you.
